Watch care
Keeping your watch at its best
A well-kept timepiece outlives its owner. A few habits are enough.
Daily
- Wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth to lift skin oils and dust.
- Take the watch off before applying perfume, sunscreen or hand cream.
- Keep it away from speakers, tablet covers and anything else with a strong magnet.
Water
- Always check that the crown is fully pushed in — most water damage starts there.
- Rinse with fresh water after contact with salt water or chlorine, then dry fully.
- Never operate the crown or pushers while the watch is submerged.
Storage
- Store away from direct sunlight and away from damp rooms such as bathrooms.
- Avoid extreme temperature swings; they affect accuracy and can fog the crystal.
- If a watch will sit unused for months, keep it in its box, dial up.
Servicing
Have the movement checked periodically by a qualified watchmaker. Gaskets age even when a watch is not worn, and a tired gasket is what turns a splash into a repair.
