Getting started

Setting the time

1. Pull the crown out to its furthest position. The second hand stops.
2. Turn the crown until the hands show the correct time.
3. Push the crown fully back in.

When setting a watch with a date, run the hands past 12 once to confirm whether you are in the morning or the afternoon — the date changes at midnight, not at noon.

Setting the date

1. Pull the crown out to the middle position.
2. Turn until yesterday's date shows, then set the time forward past midnight.
3. Push the crown fully back in.

Avoid changing the date between 9pm and 3am. The date mechanism is engaged during those hours and forcing it can damage the movement.

Automatic movements

An automatic winds itself from the motion of your wrist. Worn daily, it keeps running. After a pause, give the crown around twenty turns to restart it, then set the time.

Chronograph

1. Top pusher: start and stop the timing.
2. Bottom pusher: reset the counters to zero.

Always reset to zero before starting a new measurement.

Battery

On a quartz watch, a second hand that jumps in four-second steps is the movement telling you the battery is nearly flat. Replace it promptly — a spent cell left inside can leak and damage the movement.
